The fallout of Amazon's outage is still a mystery to some and has no effect to others. Playstation still has its issues.  Cloud technology cool and a way to reduce cost of infrastructure, but make sure you evaluate the costs, and have backup procedures in place. The key is alternative plans when the inevitable takes place. System outages.  They can happen any where along the path.  In Amazon's case it was some where in the Data Center or Centers.  But the average business it can happen in the communication path, or at the office or remote locations.  Make sure you plan your backup operations not just how you backup your data.
